Default few different questions on 01 silverado 4.3

This summer I purchased an 01 Silverado 4.3 4wd auto with 136k on it from a local newspaper company I got a heck of a deal on it. The truck was not taken care of at all and I've done a lot of work to it so far a lot of body work as well I have few different questions to see if anyone can tell me what my best move would be. I have already changed most fluids and done most of the maintenance that needed done but I wanted to change the rear diff fluid and the fill plug is rounded and an extension just slips out I have contemplated welding a nut to it to get it out but i am wondering if I should just buy a cover at the auto parts with a plug on the cover? Another thing is I did a tune up and when I did I broke the screw off in the distributor putting the cap on took it out and drilled out the screw and got that fixed and back in time but now it cranks a while before it starts could it be a coil? What should I check? Last thing the transmission works fine except in reverse sometimes it works sometimes and other times it doesn't sometimes you have to give it a lot of gas to get it to move I already changed the filter and fluid and it didn't really help. Thanks in advance for the help.

Did the cranking problem start after you did the work on the distributor cap? Did you remove the distributor from the engine to drill out the broken screw? If so did you put it back in on the right tooth?

Ya it started after I did the work and yes I did take the distributor out to drill out the screw at first when I put it back it was out of time and wouldn't start so we got it to the point where it would start but was still out of time then we finally got it where the check engine for being out of time went off and it would run right but now sometimes it just cranks and cranks before it starts when the truck warms up it starts right up no problem

Still could possibly be one tooth off.

How would I know how to get it right? Should I just move the distributor and start it and see? I got lucky and just moved it until I got the check engine off and got it somewhat back in time
