Gas pedal not functioning when brake relay is removed
Silverado, Sierra & Fullsize Pick-upsThe Silverado & Sierra have been two of the best selling trucks in the US for decades, and is truly proven to be "like a rock".
Good morning…
really appreciate you and your time!
So with the ignition on, I checked for 5v ref..
tps sensor 1( gray & blk ) was good.
then checked gray & dk green at idle, it read 4v.
I then shut the throttle body completely and got a reading of 4.55v. Last was WOT, It read .35v..
now, TPS 2
Lt blue/ blk + blk /white = 5v ref.
I then checked Lt blue/black + purple.
it read 4.85 the whole way through! Didn’t move, regardless of Throttle position!
not sure what you are doing
if tps2 low ref has 5 volts with key on and tps connector unplugged... you need to check for short to voltage on that wire.
if you used the low ref for a grd for measure the ref circuit you will get 5 volt.

so after checking the tps voltage, I thought it wouldn’t do any harm to check the previous tps that it had. When I measured it, it game the that same reading on the tps2 side…
I thought, what are the odds of that? No way! So while I was checking the sensor, I noticed the voltage changed when I moved the connector!
seen a few videos on connector issues. Having said that, I had checked the connector for continuity and Amy physical damage. So I thought we were good.
ok.. so what was it you ask? Well, do you know how the tps has fin like terminals… the problem was that the connecter terminals weren’t making contact. Some were more open than others.
I used a pick to bend the connector ends open …..and…….problem solved!
I learned a lot these last few days!
and thank you sooooo much for your time and knowledge! I appreciate you and this forum 🙏🏽
