Default GM parts vs Aftermarket

Is there really a difference between buying a throttle position sensor from GM or buying at a auto parts store?

it really depends of what part it is and who makes the aftermarket part.

Hi dreadinger,

Welcome to the Chevy Forums.

I'd go with a name-brand aftermarket part every time. You usually spend less to get name brand quality.

Most dealer parts are either foriegn made or jobbed out to the cheapest bidder.
When they get to GM, they are GM packaged, and to say costly is being kind.

The dealer is still going to get plenty of your business on stuff that's available nowhere else. FILKO and STANDARD would be two good brand names to look for a TPS.
