Grinding noise at low RPM
Hi All,
I recently purchased a 96 Silverado 4x4 , 4.3 manual 5 speed. Engine and transmission were replaced about 60,000 miles ago. New transfer case. Driveshafts are decent. Ujoints are relatively new<O</O
<O
There seems to be a noise coming from the transmission or under the bed (I can hear it when I open my rear window) when I am driving the truck but only at low RPMs ( <2k rpm) and louder when I am in 5th.
<O</O
I have no idea where to start looking and that's why I am here.<O</O

i would start by removing the flywheel cover, start it and see if it goes away. if it does, you got a cracked flywheel. unlikely on a stick shift, but probable. cheap part, got to move the tranny.
