Default Hard to start???

First off I just want to say I have been going thru your forum and yall have some great info. But the fact is I came across this forum while I was looking for information on a problem I'm having with my old truck. And I hope that someone will be able to help. I have gone thru a saw a few people that are having some of the same problems but I need some reassurance.

I have a 98 K1500 with a 5.7, if the truck sits for about 12 hrs it is hard to crank, it turns over and over and will finally will hit and it may diesel a little then die and after a time or two it will crank with low RPMs and I can give a little gas and it will clear up. Now I let it sit for 3 days and I can not get it to hit a lick.

My first thought is a fuel issue so I checked fuel pump and it is running. I checked the pressure and with the key on it is about 61psi. (I'm not sure what it is supposed to be). I have read some people are saying it needs 48 - 54 I've heard 55 - 65.

Do I have to much pressure? Could I be flooding the engine out? And this would mean that it is a pressure regulator that is bad, correct?

And yes the truck is getting fire to the plugs.

i have a 97 c1500 and the literature i've seen says the fuel pressure should be between 60 - 66 psi for v6 AND small block v8 for 1996 and later models. your 98 will be the same. your fuel pressure is fine.

Hope this may help someone.

It was the Fuel pressure Regulator. After removing the plemuim I could see where it had been leaking there was a clean shinny place on the lower intake directly under the Regulator. Replaced and cranked, nice and easy 45min job.
