Default Headers

I'm thinking about putting headers on my 2004 1500. Its the 5.3L, any suggestions? I was hoping to be able to add headers and take out the two cats. Will this screw up the sensors? Is there some way to bypass them? Any suggestions will help, thanks.

It will play havoc with the onboard computer(s) as there are four 02 Sensors (2 upstream and 2 downstream) that keep track of catalytic converter function.
It is also illegal in all 50 states and Canada.

by buddy has the set up you want, but cost a pretty penny.
*although its possible*

hes got edelbrock tri-tech shorties, and went to a pipe shop for the y-pipe... the guy made an exact duplicate, only no cats... but he had to order some dumy o2 sensors, which took care of his check light. i think the whole shabang cost him like $550? and thats with the headers from summit.

all you gotta do is keep the original pipe and ****, when it comes time for smog testing, then switch em out when your done. pain staking process, but well worth it!
ill ask him to send me some pics... hope that helped

I have the Eldbrock shortys on mine and put some high flow cats on my '04. Cost me $400. And it's legal.

I would go with a set of long tube headers with a y pipe. And then get a custom tune to have the cpu work with this set up.
