Default headliner fan

First post here, hoping to get some help. I did a search but didn't come up with anything. My dad has an '03 GMC 1500 SLE pick-up. While driving it I hear this vibration coming from the headliner. Just above the driver's head, mounted in the headliner is about a 1.5" round plastic piece with holes in it that looks like a tiny speaker grill. I removed this cover, only to discover that there is a tiny fan that is mounted there. I'm not sure what it's purpose is, or what it is called. If someone could assist in telling me what function this fan serves, and if this part is available. I plan on replacing it so that hopefully the driver will no longer have to listen to the noise coming from it. Thanks!

Default RE: headliner fan

I ended up doing a more extensive search on google and finally found out what this part is. It is called an aspirator, and it is a sensor for the automatic climate control system. The part number is 15029252, and there is a new part number of 25771194.It is $26.81 on GM Parts Direct. I plan on purchasing this part and I believe this will take care of the problem.

Default Aspirator

Yes good call....took forever to find this. Thanks. The Aspirator is almost $50 (yikes). Part # for my truck (03 Silverado 2500HD) was 20931026. It's a challenge to get out...you need to take off front molding, viser, center trim molding just pulls down over latch, and pull pins from rear handle and pull down. Carefully pull down headliner to gain access to remove wire harness, I then disassembled fan to gain access to 4 clips holding vent cover. Be careful not to destroy cover since it is a $12 part! If you do destroy your vent cover, the part# is 15044378. Good luck.
