Default helper springs

i'm thinking about putting is helper springs into a 2000 1500 sierra. Anyone have a design they recommend.

I like the air spring type for the added sway control but think the add a leaf type would better for longevity.

air bags are more expensive and give a cushier ride ,leaf helper's can be noiser and depending how you have them set can jack the truck up .

Air bags are the better option but more $$ obviously. Helpers aren't a bad deal either but will stiffen the ride up some and raise the back of the truck 1-2" dependin on brand

In my experience, hauling heavy loads, my whole family being rig welders and pulling 5th wheels. Air Bags are the much better route. if you buy a quality airbag system the first time around, I suggest firestone. and have it tubed correctly, its worth the money in the long run. Plus they are adjustable at all times. Cost about 600 I believe for the firestone kit.

I have installed the firestone air bag kit with gauge and compressor on a dodge 3500. It was a no drill install. I liked the adjustability factor. I can measure my ride height and keep the alignment where it needs to be for proper tire wear.

I was concern was the life of the airbag and not wanting to be upside down if one blows at highway speed. I've never seen one blow just slowly leak after many years.
