Default How Could This Happen To Me Help!!!

OK! It was a pain switching out the brake light switch because the retainer clip was really difficult for me to get on. Then this issue occurred: With the engine off and I depress the brake pedal the brake lights do not come on. When the vehicle is on the brake lights stay on. Now get this (the gear shifter is STUCK IN PARK). I can not shift gears and I can not even force it. What does these issues have to do with the changing of a brake light switch?

Can't drive my truck now. Please help with advice and recommendations

maybe its not installed properly. some models have a self adjusting plunger. if yours does maybe someone can provide installation instructions.

Sounds like you have interfered with the function of the brake/shift interlock.
You need to verify the connections of the brake switch you replaced and check for any other loose or misplaced connections...

Default RE: Brake Light Switch

Thanks for all of your replies. For the record I had it in the wrong position. It has to be in the exact original position to operate correctly. This even threw my mechanic LOL! So for anyone else whom might have this problem be sure to memorize or better yet take a photo of the positioning before replacing the switch if need be. I am up and running!
