Hypertech Programmer Review
Hi all,
So it seems all my current problems are solved. But I felt like I needed to give a review of my saving grace. I have a Hypertech Power Programmer III. Lately I have been disappointed in my transmission. It has been a bit sloppy and overall just plain bugged me. I had it all checked out, and nothing is wrong with it, just slop. Tonight I hooked it up and, in addition to the general power increase (that I had beforehand) I adjusted the shift firmness to 50%. HOLY S***!!! It made me feel like I had just put in a brand new racing transmission! My truck shifts perfectly, on the dot, every time! So I feel like I need to give all the credit to Hypertech, THANKS GUYS!!! |
I have heard from a few friends that if you adjust the shifting of your transmission through a programmer without first getting a shift kit installed, your transmission is destroyed pretty fast... Not sure, but you might want to check into it.

Will do, thanks for the info.

So I have done some research, and it does not harm the tranny. Increased line pressure causes firmer shifts, which in turn keep it from slipping and also reduce gear wear. It is true that TOO much firmness will indeed harm the tranny, but I have mine at a good level. I even called Hypertech and a few private auto shops that I know pretty well.
I guess we will see what happens, but I am very happy! :D |
i never had any problems when I had mine. I always had it set to 100% if you want it to shift real good, put a corvette servo in. There cheap and work good.

Well I am glad to hear that!
Have you seen any improvements to gas mileage in addition to the shifts firming up? |
