Default Hypertech Questions

I just recently bought a hypertech max energy tuner for my 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3L 4wd Z71 and was wondering what settings i should put everything on, Rev Limiter, Shift Points, Shift firmness, and the gear ratio? I dont want to screw my engine up and ruin my transmission. Please help!

did you buy it for performance? mpg's?...honestly I'd send it back or sell it. it will do nothin for you in either one of these departments...I know I used to have one of them, sold it, and got a custom tune by wheatley and now I wonder why I never did that in the first place rather than buy a programmer

actually when i installed it I put 5900 rpms, my tire rating speed, shift firmness to 25%, regular octane, rear axle gear ratio to 4.10:1, and everything else set to stock, I got an incredible performance increase. Way better acceleration, and i can actually feel the horsepower gain and response. I also added it with a K&N FIPK Air Intake and a throttle body space. My truck performs even better!

throttle body spacer isn't helpin at all and the intake is probably where most of the power comes from..when i put mine on i thought hell yeah i've got way more power, then raced a friends truck who had the exact same truck as me just white and we were neck and neck the whole way, after 4 runs it was the same way. Now? he can't hang with me past 35 and i still have to get it retuned after electric fans are installed

Danistheman1234 The settings you selected are good, I would put the shift firmness to 25% 1st to 2nd and 75% for the rest. The rpm range you selected is right. You should see around 1 to 2 mpg increase
