I am having the exact same issue with my 97 ck1500 ext cab, 5.7liter. In the last few days it all of a sudden started idleing at 1500 where it should be down at 500 when in park or neutral.

I cleaned out the K&N filter, no improvements. I've had the fuel pump replaced about a year ago...

Any ideas? It does not do this as bad in cooler weather.

Hi Davey, Any luck yet? I'm still trying to figure mine out but I do not yet have a service manual to troubleshoot and identify parts and assemblies.
