Default Keyless Remote Programming

I just bought a 2003 Silverado 2500HD and it didn't come with the factory remote for the locks. The dealer has it for $69.00 but wants $100.00 to program it. Are there any other programming options?
thanks all!

Since your truck didn't come with the keyfob originally, I don't know if there is extra programming/work that needs to be done to make it work. However, I bought a new keyfob off the internet for my Tahoe back at Christmas to replace mine that had broken. It was about $40 - cheaper than my dealer. And it came with instructions on how to program it to work with my Tahoe. They were pretty straightforward and it worked on the first try.

Can you give me a brief idea of how you programmed it? Thanks.

I'm sorry, but I don't believe I still have the instructions. But it was steps like turn the key to the start position, press the unlock button a few times, hold down the lock button and the button on the keyfob. Simple steps like that. The site I bought the keyfob from was www.keylessride.com .
