Max tow

What is the max towing for a 2004 Silverado 2500HD 4x2 6.0lt gas 4dr ext cab short bed. I've heard up to 12k but would like to know for sure.

I found that its around 10k for a 6.0 with 4:10 gears...with 12k your truck will hate life even if it's capable of doin it.
