just a fun fact. i was watching Top Gear yesterday, and this is what boys did. they had Prius driving at highest possible speed on their track. then, Jeremy was following behind in a Bimmer, 450bhp, eight cylinders.

Jeremy said it was the most boring drive of his life, but that's not the point.

on a gallon of fuel, Prius did 17.2 miles, Bimmer did 19 plus. dead serious.

basically, quoting Jeremy: it is not WHAT YOU DRIVE, it is HOW YOU DRIVE.

oh, and for those who plan on buying a fuel efficient super car. Ferrari did 1.7 miles to gallon in their test, best one was from Audi R8. something like 6 miles to a gallon. Lambo was second worst.

I agree also. I get 25 MPG highway long trip in the Blazer, I used to get 15 MPG going to Princeton and back daily.

That is a good demonsration, but its has everything to do with gearing.

definetly depends on several factors. on my 6.3 litre, if I "track" drive it I get 6, If I drive it harder then normal (back and fourth to work) 9, if I baby it 11. Then I jump on the freeway and it goes to 15, on extended cruise control I have gotten 19.8 on 300+ mile trips.

my car has several "advantages" that help, 7 speed tranny (why freeway MPG good), I try and drive in (c)omfort mode, which drops only to 2nd gear, so your not consuming first gear throttle.

but still depends on how far the foot is applied.
