Question more power?

Hi people.I got a 2009 silverado 4x4 with the 4.8 liter engine.I have realized that im not going to put any more cash in older beaters to make some sort of off road machine. So what are my options with an engine up grade in my 09?Will a crate engine work?LS3 or something,Do i have to change my tranny? Can i stuff in a big block?Do i have any options at all?I no i can go with headers, exhaust, high air flow, programer but in the end i only still have a 4.8.....!!!boring....so if i got any shot at doing this can any of you guys point me in the right direction.Thanks..ps....im fully prepared to swap axles later on to...if need be....

Your path needs to end at what you want your truck to do. Take the 4.8, GM LS1 Hot cam, roller rockers, custom tune, free up the exhaust and make over 400hp. Want more? Get a early 2000 Escalade or Denali 6.0 engine ( same as corvette internals) cam it up and stick on a turbo and hang a parachute on the back.
Point being, all it all depends on what you want it to do and how much you want to spend , and the emission requirements where you live. Keep the fuel injection for fuel mileage and reliability. Mike
