Default Move up to a 2500HD

I have a 2000 silverado with only 6600 miles on it, beautiful truck, I would rate it a 9 on a scale of 1 - 10. My problem is I just bought a bigger trailer, it weighs 7600, my silverado will tow 8500 with the rear end that is in it, my question is I want to go to something that will haul about 10,000 lb. So would a 2500 6.0 HD do it? I found a couple of 05 2500HD at a good price.

6600 or 66000 miles?? That's crazy for a 2000. And a 1500hd would do it no problem as well. Granted mpg won't be great either way pullin with a 6.0. They'll get the job done. How often are you pullin the trailer? If like an every week ordeal, I'd look into a duramax.

I have an 08 1500 w/ the max tow (6.0L) 3.73 rear end 4x4. rated to tow 10k + I routinely tow a 8k camper. Absolutely no problems what so ever. MPGs - non-towing : 11-13 city, 15 max interstate. Towing: @55mph 8-9mpg, @60mph 7-8mpg, @65mph 7mpg. Truck would go faster however, I don't due to my beliefs that you should go faster than 65 towing something that big as a tow behind.

Hope this is helpful.

I made a mistake, it should be 66,000 miles not 6600 miles. Thanks for catching that!!
I pull it about once a month, the truck does a good job of pulling it but on some inclines I feel it working kind of hard. It has a K&N air filter and flow master exhaust so it is louder than stock anyway.
Thanks for the answers.
