Default my first chevy...not sure what it needs?

Hello everyone,
I have a 05 chevy 1500 v6. It only has 32,000 on it and just developed a rubbing sound when turning the wheel either direction. The sound is coming from right behind the steering wheel itself or well within a foot. It is not the powersteering I know what that sounds like, and the sound is too close to be either powersteering or things like ball joints or belts etc. The sound is coming from within the steering area, but before it hits the engine compartment I believe. Sounds like rubber rubbing plastic or the like. Anyone have any ideas?
I tried spraying wd-40 up behind the steering wheel but couldn't snake the can's straw up in their.

Also, My passenger side door lock-- you can put the key in and turn it but it won't lock the door or unlock it?

thanks for help with either cases!

well, the noise i would have to hear for myself to see where it is coming from. does the passenger door lock work from the inside or with the keyless entry?

You need to remove the inner door panel and check the rod that comes off the lock cylinder, it is probably disconnected on 1 side.
