Default Need Help, thinking about replacing entire driver side door.

Hello new guy here. Just picked up a 1/2 ton 4x4 short bed for $500. It has is issues, just fixed the busted ignition cylinder and working like a charm. Now I moved on to the door handle and door lock cylinders but found out the door is very miss aligned and seems like it has been damaged around the door handle opening. Also the 3 torx screws that hold the door latch mechanism in place seem to be welded on, as i cant find any way to remove them without drilling them out. I already stripped those torx screws.

So the easiest solution seems to replace the entire door with a junkyard door and change the bushings and pins. Just wanted to see if there was a walkthrough out there on how to do it. Seems pretty straightfoward but there is always a tricky part or special tool required.

Any help appreicaited. thanks.

Hi Viruz One,

Welcome to the Chevy Forums.

The reason your door is like that is the vehicle went to auction at one time or another.
In the detail bay what they do to move the truck down the wash line (without the engine running), is use the entire driver side door, wide open, as a lever to push the vehicle down the wash line.

More than likely the hinges from a junkyard are going to be broken or misaligned, also. You need to get new hinges from a dealer. Alignment by a body shop may be in order. The good news is you can probably save the door.
