Smile need more power for towing

Hi, I have a 95 chev 2500 4x4 and I tow a trailer that weighs about 6000 LBS. I need to find a way to get more power and torque out of my 350 engine.. I just recently had my tranny rebuilt. Any sugestions? Thanks Wood

I hope you got a good rebuild because from what I've seen those 700r4's don't like to tow for very long. Just remember to keep it out of overdrive.

Before I built my 383 I just put a bigger cam in and milled the old heads for a 10.5:1 compression ratio and I noticed a huge diffrence in power in that 350. Or get a splitable transfer case so you can drive in 2wd lo, feels like 500ft lbs of torque.

that fix is what i was going to suggest.

i have a 2000 model 2500 with 350 engine and i pull a travel trailer that weights about 6000#

on a long hill the little 350 has all it wants and the trans is down to 2nd gear.

when you are following a buddy with a new gmc diesel pulling 12K and you can only keep up with him going down hill it is rough.

the 6.0 liter will do fine for your tow weigth, but if you are planning to do much pulling in the mountians i guess diesel is the way to go.
