i got a 1990 chevy with 115K and valve seals are leaking but im thinking of just rebuilding the motor to a 383 stroker. Will the 700r4 hold the extra power of the 383? can i use the stock efi or do i have to switch to carb? will it improve or hurt gas mileage i have light foot most of time until i run into a lil punk kid. i already have edelbrock shorty headers with true dual flowmasters. and carbon fiber driveshaft, locker with 3.08 gear ratio. so with a 383 will i have to worry about any of my drive train being to weak is what im wondering.

u can use the throttle body, but it may run lean, but chips are dirt cheap for those trucks ($65) it may hurt gas milage, but sometimes the fact that the engine doesnt work makes u have better milage, 700r4's are notoriously lousy shifting trans, u will want a corvette servo for it to give u firmer ****s, or it will blow quickly. as for the rear gear, it will put up with quite a bit of punishment, but with 3.08 gears, there is more stress on it so it will go a few years down the road
hope this helps
