Default New Silverado

Just bought a new Silverado LTZ after 8 years of Avalanche ownership. It is a 1500 crew cab. It has the stock 18" wheels with the Bridgestone tires...not a big fan.

I am wondering what other have done for rims/tires and what my limits are. I have a couple scenarios I am considering with either 18" or 20" wheels.

If I stay with 18" wheels, what would be the tallest/widest tire I could go with. I am thinking about a 20x8 wheel with Nitto Terra Grappler tires in 285/65/18 or 295/70/18. Will these fit OK with stock suspension?

What about tire size if I bump up to a 20? I want it to have a truck look, not big wheels with skinny sidewall tires.

My other thought is adding a small lift and have looked at the Ready Lift system that would raise the front 2.25" and 3" in the rear.

If I added this lift and went with 20" wheels, what would be the biggest tire I could put on? Would a 295/60/20 fit?

Thanks for the help.

I'm pretty confident a 285 or 295 would fit, stock ride height or not.

Tire sizes don't change depending on rim size. For example, if you wanted the Nitto Terragrapplers [my current tire, they're great] on an 18" rim, you'd look for 285/**/R18. On a 20" rim, you'd look for a 285/**/R20.

I put asterisks in the middle because that depends on the rim width.

Thanks for the reply. I am a little confused on tire diameter. When I look at the Nitto website, I see 2 different tires, a 275/60/18 and a 295/60/18. Logic would dictate that these tires are the same height, but the website says the 295 is taller by over an inch. Is there a diff on the Nitto website when one of the tires listed has LT in front of it? There is no explanation of LT on the website.

This is the setup I am considering...

American Racing Clash ATX rims in black 18x9, with Nitto terra grapplers in 305/60R18. They are 32.44"tall and 12.24 wide. Will these fit with stock suspension?

Here's the rims...

Go with the 295's on 18's. They'll look great.

Anyone know what the LT means on the Nitto website? My Bridgestones are 265/65R/18 and measure about 31.5" tall. Nitto has a 305/60R/18 that is a full inch taller. Shouldn't it be a little shorter? They have several tires that are 65R/18 ranging from 31" to 36" What gives?

Yes, but might consider a small setup by Ready Lift that is 2.25" front and 3" rear.

With the lift you'd definitely be able to fit the 305's. On stock suspension I'm not to sure. You can always call them and ask.

LT usually means Light Truck when it comes to tires.
