No GPS on 08 Silverado with Nav
Just got an 08 Silverado loaded with Nav (not dvd tv). Everything appears fine except that the GPS is not working. I guess I will take it back to the dealer, but I am wondering if anyone things I have done something wrong that I can fix. I just got it today. The map works, but it thinks I am in Washington DC, no GPS. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The first problem you have is that you overpaid for the nav. With the price of portable nav units I don't know why anyone would spend the extra money the dealerships charge for this.

When I installed mine I had to drive around for about 20 miles on the highway so my GPS could find the satalites. Trees & large buildings will block the signal, & mine is a 2007

Like chas said, try driving around for a while, I have seen them take 24 hours to recognize. Another thinig to check is to make sure your map region is set for the right area..... canada, usa, or europe

Because they look good and I don't have to take it off the dash and hide it everytime I park and mostly because $2,250 is chump change, but we all understand if you can't afford it; nothing to be ashamed about.
