i have a 96 Sierra, with a 5.7 aswell. I found the same kind of supercharger kit on craigslist. I really want to buy it for my truck, but i am in the same boat as you... just not sure if it will work?

I think it depends on how many miles you have on the motor and how much boost you'll be running... But without rebuilding the rest of the engine for more horsepower, I don't think it would last too long.
My brother had a 98 with a 350 and after the engine went bad, he rebuilt it for about 600 horsepower and added a blower, but it still would break... He swore all it needed was a good tune, but he ended up selling it.

if you go the route or forced induction I would get a turbocharger, not a
supercharger.
The 2 main reasons for my preference are:

Though miniscule, a Supercharger puts wear and tear on your engine.

A Supercharger will not put out as much power as a turbocharger.

make sure you replace your head gaskets before installation.
also make sure you get it professionally tuned.

good luck!

YES it will work, i have a 88 reg cab sb 4wd k1500 silverado. It has a crate 350. stock trans. I custom fitted a paxton blower on it that I bought off ebay. Im running about 5 psi. With a Holley 2inch throttle body from summit. I was told from harris performance. They run and still make chips for TBI fuel injection tbichips . com. that there was a paxton kit around 1995 that was available that used the stock tune, and had a extra set of fuel injectors for when the boost built up. Ive seen 1 other guy around the internet running a similar setup. You arent the only one!
