Default Performance tuner advice

I have a 2000 Z71 X-cab that I bought new in '99. I have been thinking about some performance improvements. I currently have Gibosn dual catback exhaust, and will be getting a K&N cold air intake this winter to install in the spring. I am very curious about performance tunes. There seems to be a lot of "gas" left in the engine that I can't use based on GM's "one-size-fits-all" factory tune. I'm not a drag racer (anymore), but I hate not being able to get the most out of my engine - even if it's my daily driver. I would like the groups feedback on experience they have had with performace tunes. Nelson, Black Bear, etc.

any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Jeff B

i have nothing but praise for justin @ blackbear. he is very helpful and knowledgable. he really woke my Vortec Max up.

best $$$ you can spend on your truck. He is very busy though and sometimes might take a few days to reply to your email, but the wait is worth it. he will try to answer your question's as best he can no matter what they are.

Cool

Avoid the hand-held programmers, if this is all you want them for.

The way to go is with a chip, like bad2006Z71 said.
