Default Pink starter wire no power with key in start postion

hello,
I have a 2000 silverado ext-cab 5.3 4x4,
I do not have power to the little pink wire on the starter soldnoid when the key is in the start postion.
Right now I can get the truck running by running a seperate wire for the soldnoid to the battery.
I would like to figure out what is wrong with this pink wire when in the start postion, what should I look for?
suggestions or ideas please
thanks for your time

Possibly a new ignition switch.
