Hello everyone,
I am debating to purchase a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 from a local in town. However, I am not sure of its value. I will post what I know of the truck and look forward to your quotes.
Year 2005
Make Chevrolet
Model Silverado
Sub-Model 2500
Body LS Extended Cab w/ Long bed
Engine 6.0L V8 Gasoline
Transmission Automatic
Drive 4x4
Other Power options
Overall Condition 7/10 or 8/10
Mileage 206,000
My main fear is the mileage. How reliable is the Chevrolet engine?

Hi ERT-Jeffrey,
Welcome to the Chevy Forums.
It sounds to me like this one has been rode hard and put away wet. At 206K, I personally would be leery, because you're facing two very probable situations:
1.The original owner(s) dumped the vehicle because they don't want to pay the butcher's bill for maintenance and repair.
2. You will in all likelihood not get a reliable or cost-effective warranty on this vehicle from the dealer due to the advanced mileage.
IMO, you should calculate the fair value for the vehicle yourself. Place 2500$ of that value in your savings account against imminent breakdowns for your own protection, and offer the rest of that value to the dealer for the TOTAL purchase price of the vehicle. If the dealer walks away from the table, so should you. So if you think the vehicle is worth 6000$,
-2500$ you put away in your savings account to handle breakdowns
=3500$ You offer the dealer.
In the event you do acquire the vehicle, you will then have a 2500$ cushion against any unforseen difficulties, and not be at the mercy of dealer warranty small print. (Yes dealerships DO hate me...)
