can i replace my radio without the receiver that came with the truck or do need to keep it.

A little more information about your vehicle wouldn't kill ya.

Many later model GM trucks require a "Data port adapter" {Oh yeah, 100$$} because there is no accessory station on the ignition switch. (We're having the GM weasel safari in August. Pith helmets optional.)

first off what year is your truck? if it is 2003? or newer it will need the adapter.
