Default re gearing 4.3 powered sierra?

i have a 2000 4.3 sierra halfton..as we all know, this motor should not be in this truck!. i am looking into re gearing the rear end. im not sure what gear set i actually want. im looking for something to give me more torque, ( more the better) but im not to concerend with top speed or fuel economy. im looking for it to be more snappy. what do ya guys think a good setup would be.?

ps. i have plans of high flow cat and and glasspack(s), cold air intake and possibly headers... thanks alot guys..

I would say maybe 4.10. Is your truck lifted any?

If you do i would take the front driveshaft out so that you will not mess anything up if you accidently put it in 4wd

I'm guessing its 4wd, if so, regear the front to. Its just the proper way. But removing the front driveshaft won't hurt a thing. 4.10s would be a great swap. If you were to get 4.56s, you'd have one heck of a truck off the line. No top speed and no MPG.
