Default ReadyLift Problems, Issues 2011 Chevy Silverado

I recently purchased a 2011 Chevy Silverado Quad Cab truck. I knew I wanted to add a lift kit since before making the purchase. After a couple months of research I decided to buy a 2.25" ReadyLift and go with the recommended tire 33 x 11.50 setup. This is also called a leveling kit. I thought this would be a basic lift kit that would allow me to still easily go through Mike's Express Carwash and not raise too many red flags when returning for warranty work at the dealership.

I called ReadyLift twice. The sales people assured me that the recommended tire setup, 33" x 11.50" would work fine and not rub at all. I even asked if I could do light off road driving and they still assured me that I would be fine.

I didn't stop there, I searched Google for every forum with people discussing this lift. Some said they had to trim because they chose to go with a 33" x 12.50" tire or used wider rims with a different offset. Everyone else said it should be fine. I even asked two different 4x4 service centers. One refused to work with ReadyLift because of some childish fued. They owned Pro Comp and said that ReadyLift went back on a deal they had. The other shop claimed the could do the install and told me that if I stuck with 17" by 8" wide rims and the recommended tire setup I should be fine. The man said I may experience some rubbing if I extended the suspension, but otherwise I would be fine with the ReadyLift leveling kit. I really wanted 9" wide rims and an offset that would allow the wheels to stick out further, but I went with the advice of the pro and ReadyLift's sales staff.

My new truck looked GREAT! The main problem is that the wheels rub with basic driving constantly if I turn at all. Even when I'm on level ground, with no passengers and turn the wheel you can see it touches. I even removed a clip that was rubbing and this didn't do anything to fix it. My only option would be to cut into the metal fender and I don't want to do that.

The exact tires I bought were Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ Radial Plus LT285/70R17 which is equal to 33x11.50R17 You can see the tires on their website here.

The wheels I went with were American Racing ATX Mojave Teflon Wheels that were the exact same offset as factory and 8" wide.

I'm now forced to upgrade to the 4" ReadyLift SST kit to get the proper clearance. I was told by the 4x4 shop pro that he recommends other lifts because the 4" kit by ReadyLift will wear out the upper ball joints in roughly half the time they would normally last. He said the lift kit only adjusts for the lower ball joints and stresses the upper ball joints. This is just what he said. I could be confusing the upper and lower, but one of the ball joints will be stressed he claims.
