Default rear hub bearing replacement

does the rear hub bearings on 02 silverado 2500hd need to be packed with grease or does the rear end lubricant supply the lubricant.took the hubs off and they appear not to have grease on them...

the bearing is lubricated by the diff flluid. When you put the hub/bearing back to on; make sure you fill the bearing cavity full of diff fluid then put it in place and tighten it up. If you put it on dry, by the time the diff fluid gets to the bearings...they will be toast.

After I replace them and refill the diff, I jack up the opposite side to let the gear oil run down to the bearing.

i usually grease pack the bearings on reassembly to help with the dry/hot start...either way put oil in the hub as mentioned
