Question rear window replacement

I'm installing my first rear window. I am told I have to glue it in place. Do I glue the rubber to the glass? Or, Do I glue the rubber to the truck? My dad told me that "Back in the day" they didn't use glue.

First of all what year is the truck, the newer truck yes you have to glue in. The older ones just set in that rubber, you just pull them in. Used sealer if it leaks but if the rubber is good you won't have any problems.
