Default Silverado Drivetain Clunk

have a 02 1500 xtra cab 4 x 4 long bed 126,000 miles. am getting a clunk in drive train when I stop and then accelerate. replace all front and rear universal joints witch did not help. get all different answers from shops & chevy mechanics. replace yoke will help for a while but will need to continue to replace thru time, do not worry about it is normal, will not cause any damage, will cause damage to transfer case, design defect that has been around GM for quite some time ( if this is true I can recommend a very good engineer who could surely help you fix design. ) grease yoke monthly / do not grease yoke because it could leak into transmission fluid.
so as you can see no real answer. hoping Chevrolet will be able to give me correct solution.
thank You,
Bill

Bill,

That problem has been around as long as there have been Chevy pickups with rear leaf springs.

Grease the slip yoke splines. When the spings wrap, the yoke absolutely has to move. When the splines are dry, the torque keeps the yoke from sliding.

If it is the slip yoke, you can replace it with a nickel plated one that will last for many years... my 07 just started this, its about a 20 minute basic tools to perform the lube... You do need to use the proper grease that is compatible so as not to contaminate the transmission fluid...

Default Shifting clucnk.

I've had that clunk, plus a clunk when shifting in and out of gear on my 2001 Silverado for the past 11 years without any issues. I bought the truck with 86,000 miles on it and recently hit 200,000 miles.

My mechanic says it is a common/known issue in Silverados of that body style (1999-2006).
