Silverado Max tow
Hi everyone..I am new here and have been considering a 2010 Silverado Max tow with the 6.2 etc. Does anyone tow with this? Tell me all about your thoughts on how good it tows. I want to tow a 8500# travel trailer into the mountain area out west. What do you think?

well, i can tell ya that my 04 hd tows 7000# with ease. hardly even know it's there. i can only imagine that a new rig like the one you're looking at is far superior.

I have a 2006 votec max and it pulled a similar weighted trailer with no problems. Plenty of power. You knew the trailer was back there but could keep highway speeds through the hills with no problem.

Some other things to consider are the tongue weight on the type of hitch you have and brake stopping power. I found a site I save that has some information that should help you out.

Edit: just notice after posting the words tongue weight hyper linked to a info site, cool.

Hi Jimb,
Welcome to the Chevy Forums.
There's more than just "towing" capacity to consider.
The 2500 has larger brakes,(all things considered, I'd opt for 4-wheel disc) and a heavier suspension. My 2500 has the tow/haul mode, but I found the transmission temp gauge to be much more helpful. The 410 gears with standard size tires has plenty of power.
The "E" rated tires might be an attractive option-10-ply radials rated at 60-80 PSI for superior load handling.
Getting the truck to "pull" the load, especially in the area you're talking about, is just the beginning. You may want to spec and price the 2500HD and 3500HD packages before you buy.
Towing downhill in the rain at night puts a whole new perspective on things.

I had a 2005 2500HD with a 6.0 & 4:11 gears & it pulled both TT= 8000LB & CT=6500lb great but MPG killed me around town. Now I have a 2007 NBS with Max tow & 6.0 with 3:73 & it tows them both just as well as the old HD, but gets better MPG around town!
