when i am going over about 50mph in my 99 3500 and hit a bump or pothole my steering wheel starts shaking left and right violently. i have to slow down a lot to get it to stop. what could the problem be? i was thinking balljoints? what do you guys think?

idler arm , either the shaft portion is shot or the crosslink arm is shot , try grabing it and if it wiggles back and forth or up and down you have to replace it alot of people don't know theres 2 grease fittings on them

my dad has a 87 3500 and his has the same problem.. we all refer to it as the death wobble cuz it really feels like u could lose control it gets so bad. He has replaced just about everything in the front end and it hasn't done it for a long time now but everynow and again it will still do it. Something he recently put on is a dual steering stabilizer kit, this for some reason helped alot.
