Default third brake light wire for topper

I'm working on my daughter's 2005 silverado LTZ. Does Chevy provide a wire near the rear end to tap in a third brake light for a topper? If so does anyone know what color it is? Location? Thanks in advance for any help.

the wires should be red. i have a 2003 z71 and there basically the same truck. if you have a plastic bedliner, you should be able to pull it out there at the end on the drivers side and you should be able to tap into the brake light right there at the end. thats what i did with mine. then i just spliced it into a plug so when i decide i want the topper off i just unplug it. post back with any questions but hopefully this will help.

does your topper light blink with one of your turn signals?

No, tap into the brake light inside of your taillight housing. Use bullet connectors or a plug so you can disconnect to remove the cap.
