Default Transfer case question

I have a '78 silverado and something internally is giving out in the transfer case. I assume the chain has stretched to the point it slips on the gears. The transfer case is the NP203 full time 4wd. My question is it worth my time to take it out and rebuild it or would it be better to just find a used transfer case to put in it? If another transfer case, would i have to find another NP203 transfer case or would another type bolt up to the TH350 transmission?

Its not to difficult to rebuild it. My brother used to rebuild his every month or so, he had a lot of problems with his ol' truck.
