Hi 72pickup,

Welcome to the Chevy Forums.

Most large Junkyards (or recycler yards) not only offer a great deal on a used tranny with a limited warranty, they can also check interchange options through their manuals to find the very best transmission for your particular driving needs.

auto? 350? 400? 4L60? 4X4? check local Craigs, or you could go a new GM with a waranty or even TCI or some aftermarket rebuilder

best to replace it with whatever transmission is in it now, simplicity speaking anyway, but buy a rebuilt upgraded version
