Default Transmission going out or isolated incident?

1995 K1500 144,000 miles
So i was driving down the freeway the other day going about 70mph and
I notice my rpm's are at about 2,500 meaning I am in 3rd gear!?

I punch the gas and it downshifts right to 2nd or 1st, then I let off the gas and it finds the 5th gear??
(I thought these trucks were 4 gears) and since then it has been shifting right when it should be and working properly.
So I am gonna have the transmission serviced, but could it not shifting into gear be an early warning my
tranny is about to fail? However, before the incident and ever since it happened it is shifting perfectly and right on time,
no problems at all. I have never had a vehicle long enough for a transmission to fail so I am not familiar with the signs
other than of corse it not shifting. I have owned about 15 different cars, sometimes multiple cars at a time,
but never had 1 for longer than 2 years.

So should I be concerned or since it is now shifting fine there are seemingly no problems?
could the shifting solenoid be about to go?
can I ohm the shifting solenoid out or is there a way to test it to see if it needs to be replaced?

Default trans

Drop the pan and change the filter. When you refill it add a bottle of Lube Guard. I am not much of a snake oil guy but Ive seen this stuff cure several shifting problems. Be sure you get the right type for your vehicle.

The transmission fluid has a filter in the line?
Wow I didn't even know that.
I will try that and adding the lube too, thank you

the 5th u feel is the torque converter locking up, these trans are notorious for shifting into 4th, then locking up the converter for extra milage
