When they say 1/2 capacity, does that mean the engine and transmission will pull 1000 pounds past the stock weigt of the truck?
Or does it mean the shocks, springs and suspension will hold 1000 pounds? Cause when you load a pickup with diamond plate tool box w/side boxes, ladder rack and various hand tools, 2 people in the cab, it leaves enough weight capacity for maybe a piece of sandpaper.

1/2 tonmeans the trucks springs, chassis, and bed are designed to safely carry a maximum of 1000 pounds, or one-half of a ton. This does not referr to trailers however, because all of us know that a half ton truck is more than capable of towing over 1000 pounds.
