truck will not kick over

truck will not kick over
traced down a blown fuisable link on the fire wall and replaced the +battery cable that was a little roasted, we replaced the blown link with one from checker but as soon as we try to start it nothing. have power to dash lights all that but as soon as we try to start it nothing. can we just hard wire and just bye pass the fuisable links? or any idea what size amp fuse I would need to replace the fuisable link with a in line fuse? thanks
