Default two weird noises, help please.....

to all:

i hope ya'll might be able to help me with this. my 01 silverado is making two seperate noises that i can't figure it out what they are. as i mentioned, it is an 01 silverado with about 130K miles.

first noise: when i am turning, there is a popping noise that sounds like a pop/click by the front driver tire area and it only happens when i am turning the steering wheel as in backing up or turning around. it is one popping sound and that is it. and it only happens when turning around or backing up, not when making a turn driving.

second noise: this noises happens when i am driving and it comes and goes, it is not a constant. it sounds like a knocking noise around the front driver tire and i can even feel a little of shake in the steering wheel. it has happened anywhere from 40 mph to 80 mph, not less than 40 mph.

If anyone can help with their opinion, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm not 100% sure, I'm sure there's more knowledgable people here than myself, but I think that's a bad ball joint.

It probably is a ball joint or a loose shock absorber, On rack and pinion steering, It can also be in the rack and is telescoping the sound to the wheel. It'll sound like it's coming from there because You're closest to it.

4x4? could be an outer CV going bad if it only happens in tight turns.

I'd have to agree with Dazz on the bad ball joint. Let me know what you do because I have the Shake in the steering wheel also. Gets a little annoying.

how long have you had the shake? does anyone know what sort of damage this can cause? I mean i have been meaning to fix this either myself or take it in, but of course due to money and time this has been put on the back burner. I currently have it planned to fix promptly but i don't want to cause any long term expensive damage or much more make it dangerous for me to drive or other drivers.

Thanks.

I'm not sure on what the part's called but this is what happened to me: Put the truck on a lift and the tire was not as sturdy as could be. The whole assembly was loose. put me back about $500 at brake check but shake and knockin is gone.
