Well, Chevy could not give us a good reason for what happend. They just gave us another car and said they would be fixing it.....we are to call them Wednesday to see what they have found out. Even the service manager said he has never seen that and wasn't sure why it happened....

drpepperporter, could you direct message me your case number? I would like to check it over if I may. Thank you for your time.

Well Jeff what was the 1241 results or was one completed, from the pictures looked as though the lower ball joint failed and resulted in the axle breakage.. Retired ZSM

The last correspondence I received from drpepperporter was that the issue had been fixed.

Hi drpepperporter,

Welcome to the Chevy Forums.

I just had a driver-side hub bearing go out on me. My truck is a little older, an 04, with 90,000 miles however. It seems your hub bearing may just have been defective.

Warning signs:

1. The front end starts making EE-ER,EE-ER squealing noises like a rusted hinge, at low speeds, like maneuvering around parking lots.

2. The bad hub bearing makes a loud "WWUUUZZZZZN" noise as you go around a hard curve in the other direction at over 30MPH(In this case, the passenger side). Going the direction on the same side as the bad bearing there is no noise.

I was fortunate, and caught it just in time. Otherwise I'd be joining the OP in the "Lost Wheel Club".

Hub Bearing:200-300$(depending on brand)
Installation: 100$

Of course, if you lose your wheel on the road, it will be considerably more.
