Default Wiring Trailer Brake

Went to the local accessoriy shop with the intention of buying a trailer brake box for my 1/2 ton. They were willing to sell me the box but when I asked how to wire it they told me they get $25.00 for the install. Didn't want to tell me how it hooks up.

With my f-250, Ford provided a plug to hook to the brake controller and it just plugged in under the dash. My Chebby didn't come with a plug.

Can someone who has done this tell me what I need to do & what box is reccomended... Gotta get one installed in the next week.

You can go to WalMart or something and get a trailor wiring harness for cheap and
instructions are included. it is a pretty basic process, just splice/wire nut into
your taillights. I would remove the battery cables from the battery 1st though
so you don't have the risk of getting electricuted. Even though the brake is not
pushed down, and lights and blinkers are off, I have seen electricity do some
pretty crazy stuff sometimes.
