Back up and running
Everyonewho tried to access the CF or a number of other AFU forums between the evening of May 18th and the evening of May 19th know that there was a technicalerror with the forum itself. The forum underwent emergency maintenance and is now back online due to the hasty workof the AFU Tech staff. It is unclear what caused the error, but AFU is probably working hard to prevent it happening again.

RE: Back up and running

|
RE: Back up and running
Who knows?;). Patrick didn't even know what the deal was.

RE: Back up and running
I tried twice yesterday to get on and gave up. Glad its back up, now I have something to do.:D

RE: Back up and running
There was what looked like somesort of hack injection. An advertisement was reloading itself so quickly that I was here for about 30 seconds and it filled up around 250mb worth of internet explorer cache. I don't remember the exact name of the domain is was downloading the script from but these are getting fairly common around the net. I had to deal with something similiar at work.
To be exact I think it may be what is called an "SQL Injection". To further educate yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FxiYaflV-g |
RE: Back up and running
wow shows how much i know about the internet lmao, well deffinatly makes me wonder now.

RE: Back up and running
Thanks markofthebeast. I'll have to clear my cache. No telling how much it has slowed my computer down. I run Avant now. IE and Opera mess up too bad and I don't like Firefox. Avant has a more expanded cache than IE.
Jeremy probably hit the nail on the head with his hacker speculation ;) |
RE: Back up and running
Yep markofthebeast is right, it was a form of injection. I think the layman term is script injection. I knew as soon as I saw it that we would be down for a while until it got all cleaned up.

RE: Back up and running
I consider the CF lucky to be up this quick. Many of the AFU forums are still down. Must have been an extremely malicious cyberattack against AFU.

RE: Back up and running
Yeah, sounds like something Brett would do............[sm=bustedsign.gif] lol

|
RE: Back up and running
LOL Well I figured since you guys had not said it you were leaving it up to me! :D
|
RE: Back up and running
thank you to all of you who wrote me when things werent working.
my understanding is that there was some system failure, but its odd that only a handful of sites were affected...with seemingly no pattern. also, some people just werent able to access the site and they had no issues other than that. my pc was fouled up pretty good...but my cleaner programs fixed it up for me. |
RE: Back up and running
All of you should have experienced a "ASP 500" error from last night (May25) and just a few minutes ago (May 26).
Assuming a maintenance period Patrick? |
