Default Bad Head?

Well im also one of the lucky ones the timing belt went on...i have the timing cover off, and the valve cover off. How do I tell if the valves are bad in the head? 2004 Aveo. Any help would be appreciated

Default RE: Bad Head?

If the belt broke while driving, then your valves are almost certainly bent. A quick way to tell without getting too involved is to remove the camshaft from the vehicle, and lightly tap the valve stem with a hammer. If it springs back, it probably isn't bent. If it goes down and doesn't spring back, then it is bent for sure.
