Welcome to the forum...
I would have the compression checked...just a guess but you could have a valve issue...
does your Tahoe have the Active Fuel management ? ( goes into V4 mode)

Not sure if it has a v4 mode??? how would i find that out?? I should start from the beginning:
Over the last year I started noticing that the engine oil was burning up faster than the normal. way before the 3000 miles or 3 months, usually after the 2 month mark I had to add oil. within the last 6 months the engine light started coming. It would stay on for sort periods then turn off. I had a friend who is a mechanic check it when the light was on and it was reading had something to do with the throttle body pedal senor?? not too sure. Now the light does not come on but now the car struggles to go uphill and at times both stabilitrak & engine light come on, but not always. Once I pickup speed it no problem, its just when I am at a stop step on the gas to start going uphill and it feels like its checking then I here a pop that comes from the engine...Hope you can help...

Not sure about the Codes, but a cracked Distributor Cap can cause symptoms somewhat like you describe. That's be a simple DIY check.

07s and up have AFM (V4/V8) and coil over plug ie, no distributor.

Dang, it's hard to remember stuff like that, when you don't do it every day.

marty73 you may also want to check the fuel pressure...
its possible you could also have an issue with the throttle position sensor or a throttle body issue...
It could be a number of things, but I'd check the compression and the fuel pressure...
