Default 07 Suburban LTZ Auto Rear Door Problem

The rear door on my 07 LTZ will only open a third of the way and then closes quickly. Has anyone had this problem and how did you fix? Thanks! JK

It may be worn struts. The liftgate has an obstruction sensor that reverses the door if it encounters an obstruction. The extra weight of the door can fool the sensor into thinking it is an obstruction. When the door starts to open use your hand to assist it to remove the extra weight and see if it continues to open. Also if the struts are worn the door can drop a few inches from the full up position and then close slowly. If it is not the struts it may be a bad sensor.

Default Struts

My 2007 Suburban LTZ did the same thing. I bought the struts online and replaced them myself in a few minutes.

It fixed the problem for cheaper than the dealer wanted for one strut...
