Default '12 Suburban Brakes

So back in July 2015 i had the original brakes and rotors changed by a local repair shopat about 45000 miles. Back in November 2016 i was at the dealer and he said i needed new break again. I thought thats impossible b/c the brakes only had just under 25000 miles on them and 6000 of those miles were tricps back and forth from NJ to florida. January 2017 i take the truck to the place to have the brakes checked and sure enough. i need new brakes. What we found odd was both times both the front and back had to be replaced. Usually the you change 2 sets of fronts for every set of backs. Has anyone ever had this issue before? Is this just the way this truck is? Any feedback would be apreaciated

I have a 2013 Silverado and had to replace the rear brakes at 52,000 miles while the front pads were still good. This is also unusual. Don't know why, everything looked good. Why did Chevrolet go back to drum brakes in the rear? My 1999 Silverado had disc rear brakes in the rear and they seemed to last forever.
