Default 12v power for Micro USB

So, I got the wife a bluetooth speaker phone for her car...

http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/US...EN?localeId=33

it's powered by an internal battery, that is charged via a micro USB port... and the included 12v adapter....

however I want to wire it to the car's ACC. I have 12v from the car going to the Sat. Radio just fine... on /off w/the key... so i want to do that, to this.

Problem is, this is 5v DC, not 12....

What I want is to crimp something at one end to 12v DC of the car, and the other end of this wire is a microUSB adapter. and between these it has to get to 5v DC.

I could wire in the part that came with, but it will be 'fun' to hide a huge adapter...

Does any one sell anything like this?

ALL cell phones / etc will be Micro USB in 2011...

thanks!

I ran into that when I wanted to conceal the micro usb for my Garmin unit, I just installed a concealed 12v socket under the console, much easier then trying to rewire....I have a post and pics somewhere her in the forum....thou I have mine wired hot 24/7...

Default yea

i've considered that, but would rather not have the bulk..

http://www.amazon.com/USB-Charger-Ad.../dp/B003JHN0L2

that one, for under $5 shipped would work such as I could use a USB cable from the speaker phone to this device, then conseal the device (but I'd still rather not lol)

BUT; do you think the electronics are in the lighter part, or the box part?

you would need 12v for the 3 'sockets' so it's 12v on the lead in, and USB out... i wonder if I could strip out the parts in this to make what I need...

Here it is... https://chevroletforum.com/forum/sho...ghlight=garmin

Using the hidden socket gives me more versatility as I can plug any 12 cig adapter into it.

Default socket

Radio Snack wants $7 for a socket, this is $4.00 and includes parts I may canibilize... so ordered! lol.

Her dash has 2 unused sockets... one is 12v all the time, one is on / off w/key...

I think I picked mine up at Wallyworld, it had everything for mounting it. I have also been looking at the multi outlets on Amazon,
we all have smart phones the kids and I have Android phones the wife has a Blackberry and we all seem to need to be plugged in when we are in the vehicles,
I can get cheap 12 chargers from cellphoneshop.net and use the multi outlets so we can all be charing at the same time...
